Three lawyers working at Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, an international player in the legal, tax, immigration and fiduciary sector, has announced the promotion of three of its senior lawyers: Antoine Saliba Haig, Magdalena Velkovska and Marina Magri.
Dr Saliba Haig has been appointed Partner within the firm’s Immigration and Global Mobility practice. He has been with Chetcuti Cauchi for over a decade, specialising in residency and citizenship law.
Over the years, Dr Saliba Haig has advised a wide range of international clients on various immigration pathways, including those based on descent and investment. His doctoral thesis focused on the modes of acquisition of citizenship under Maltese law and he has regularly contributed to industry publications and thought leadership in the sector.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr Saliba Haig expressed gratitude to his mentors and colleagues, describing the firm as his “professional family” since graduating.
“I look forward to contributing further to our shared vision, strengthening our forward-looking legal proposition on an international level,” he said.
Magdalena Velkovska has been promoted to Director within the Investment Migration practice. Previously serving as Head of Private Client Tax, she has a strong background in client advisory and legal compliance.
Ms Velkovska has played a key role in guiding private clients and high-net-worth individuals through complex residency and citizenship procedures. She also is a member of the International Association and the European Immigration Lawyers Network, frequently invited as a speaker at international conferences.
Reflecting on her new role, Ms Velkovska said she was honoured to be taking this next step alongside former mentors who are now her peers.
“Together, we will continue to innovate, inspire, and achieve new heights, empowering the next generation of colleagues and clients to reach their full potential through exceptional work ethic, standards of client service, and leading them by example,” she said.
Marina Magri has also been named Director, with responsibilities spanning corporate and commercial law. Since joining the firm, Ms Magri has been instrumental in advising prominent business families and executives on global mobility, residency, and citizenship matters.
Just last year, she was appointed co-head of the firm’s immigration and global mobility arm, where she has played an important role in risk management, compliance and immigration. She has also been invited to numerous international conferences, representing Chetcuti Cauchi globally.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Magri expressed gratitude for being untrusted with this new responsibility, praising the professional whom she worked alongside, describing them as an inspiration.
“I am excited to continue this journey, contributing to our collective success and upholding the strong ethical values that define us,” she concluded.
Commenting on these new appointments, Jean-Philippe Chetcuti, Managing Partner at the firm, commended the trio for their energy, loyalty and expertise, “and for their representation of the firm’s values as an outcomes-based law firm that puts its people and its clients first.”
He concluded: “We congratulate them for their efforts and pledge our support in their ongoing quest for professional development and improvement.”
