David Valenzia appointed to Salvo Grima Group’s board of directors

David Valenzia has been appointed to the board of the Salvo Grima Group as a Non-Executive Director.

The group operates an international business focusing on supply chain services: distribution, international wholesale, ship supply and travel retail. It distributes to over 50 countries, and operates from multiple locations.

The group said that Mr Valenzia’s appointment comes following the retirement of Ian Camilleri. Mr Camilleri had served as an independent director on the main board since 2009, and had also served as director on a number of subsidiaries both in Malta and The Netherlands.

David Valenzia has considerable experience in assisting with business development projects and corporate restructuring. He is a former Territory Senior Partner at PwC Malta, where he spent a total of 36 years.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London, where he also worked, prior to being appointed partner of PwC Malta. Mr Valenzia was involved in the firm’s assurance practice, where besides being engagement leader on a number of the firm’s major clients, dealt with several large business groups.

“Salvo Grima Group has an impressive legacy and an equally promising future” he said, “and I very much look forward to joining it at this time”.

Commenting on this change, Group Chair Robert C. Aquilina said: “As we acknowledge the very valid contribution Ian has made over the years, and wish him well for the future, we are happy to welcome David. There is little doubt that his acumen, expertise and experience are going to prove invaluable to our business.”

Reflecting on his experience across the decades with the group, Mr Camilleri remarked how Salvo Grima Group had grown substantially in size, scope, and complexity. "A distinguishing feature of this business", he observed, "is the way that issues are always resolved with integrity, respect, and a sense of fair play. Such values will doubtless continue to serve the group well."
