‘Grateful for every experience’: Kenneth Caruana celebrates 20 years of flying

Thermoplastics Ltd CEO Kenneth Caruana on Sunday celebrated 20 years of flying, a journey that has left him grateful and full of pride for having the “privilege of taking to the skies”.

“Not only have I learned how to navigate through the clouds, but I’ve also mastered the art of discipline and quick decision-making,” he said.

“Throughout my journey, I was keenly aware that I could never pretend to know everything,” he said, before explaining that he was “always open to learning” from those that came before him, particularly his mentors who provided guidance, imparted “valuable knowledge”, and even spurred him on to “greater heights”.

“And so, as I look back over two decades of adventure, I feel truly grateful for every experience, every setback, and every triumph. These moments helped shape me into the skilled pilot I am today,” he continued.

Mr Caruana proceeded to thank aviation specialists Nigel James Dunkerley, Patrick Fenech, Trevor Darmanin and Benjamin Muscat for the role they played in his development as a pilot. “Your passion for aviation and endless support gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams, and I couldn’t have done it without you,” he added. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Malta Air Traffic Services, Malta International Airport plc, as well as Transport Malta.

“As I soar into the future, I will continue to cherish the lessons that I learned and the incredible memories I’ve made. Here’s to the next years of exploration, growth, and a love for flying that will never fade,” Mr Caruana concluded.

Mr Fenech, who is Managing Director at Malta Wings and Malta School of Flying, replied that it “was and is still a pleasure” to assist Mr Caruana when possible, and added that he looks forward to going on a trip with him in the future.

Mr Darmanin, who is Captain of Challenger 850 at VistaJet, and was previously a flight instructor at Malta Wings and Malta School of Flying, congratulated Mr Caruana on the milestone, labelling it a “fantastic achievement”. He also wished him “many more years of safe and enjoyable flying”.

Seasoned flight examiner and instructor Mr Dunkerley also joined in on wishing him best of luck for the future, remarking that he is glad to have been part of his “memorable journey”.

Mr Caruana founded Thermoplastics Ltd in 1996, a Malta-based company that produces high-quality injection moulded plastic products to local and foreign customers in the toys, automotive, smart technologies and construction sectors. It also owns Aerotechnik Ltd, a Malta-based company that specialises in the design of moulds and manufacture of components in carbon fibre.

He is also a qualified aviation engineer, holding a degree in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology from Miami, Florida.
