As the Christmas season approaches, Graziella Grech, former Chief Operations Officer at FinanceMalta, has shared a reflective message marking a period of personal and professional transition, while looking ahead to what she describes as a year of reinvention.
In a LinkedIn post published on Thursday (today), Ms Grech said the festive season has prompted her to reflect on “what this season truly represents”, noting that beyond celebrations, Christmas is “a time for gratitude, humility, and meaningful human connection”.
Ms Grech revealed that the past two months have been a significant turning point in her career, following the announcement of her resignation from FinanceMalta and her decision to make herself open to new opportunities. She acknowledged that taking this step was not easy, but said the response from the industry was deeply encouraging.
“What followed, however, was genuinely humbling,” she wrote, adding that “the support, encouragement, and trust shown by industry professionals across the financial services ecosystem has been overwhelming and this touched my heart deeply.”
Alongside this professional transition, Ms Grech is also nearing the completion of her Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations, with the submission of her dissertation approaching. She described the academic journey as one that challenged her intellectually, broadened her perspective, and strengthened her belief in diplomacy, leadership, and international cooperation.
Looking ahead, Ms Grech said she is approaching the future with “clarity and ambition”, describing 2026 as a pivotal year. “2026 will be a game changer…a year of reinvention,” she stated.
Reflecting on the past weeks, Ms Grech expressed particular gratitude for the support she has received during this moment of change, noting that it reinforced her confidence in the industry itself. “It reinforced my faith in our industry and in the power of professionalism combined with empathy,” she wrote.
She concluded by extending her wishes for the festive season, expressing hope that Christmas brings peace and reflection, and that the New Year offers renewed purpose and meaningful opportunities.
Ms Grech previously served as Chief Operations Officer at FinanceMalta, where she played a central role in supporting and promoting Malta’s financial services sector both locally and internationally.
Rising inequality, however, merits attentions, says Alexander Demarco.
