Workplace advice can come from books, conferences, mentors – and, occasionally, from a dog.

At least, that’s the case for Mauro Miceli, Director of Operations at BetStarters, who recently shared a heart-warming reflection on LinkedIn about the unlikely source of his daily motivation.

“The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my dog – even if it was just a wag and a smile,” he wrote, describing the cheerful morning routine that sets the tone for his day. A quick walk, a wagging tail, and that unmistakable “go earn those treats” look have become a grounding ritual before stepping into the world of operations management.

For Mr Miceli, the lesson is simple yet timeless: Enthusiasm, consistency, and a positive attitude count for more than we sometimes admit. “He’s a daily reminder that enthusiasm, consistency, and a good attitude go a long way – whether it’s in work or in life,” he added.

And while inboxes fill and meetings multiply, it’s the return home that brings everything back into balance. “No matter how full the inbox or how many meetings the day brings, coming home to that same happy face puts everything back in perspective.”

Sometimes, the best leadership coach is small, furry, and waiting by the door.

As he put it perfectly: “Here’s to the four-legged colleagues who keep us motivated, balanced, and smiling – every single day.”
