A celebration of Malta’s women in aviation will take place at the Aviation Museum this October, marking the second annual event by Women in Aviation.
This event, to be held on 3rd October, will celebrate the achievements of women in Malta’s thriving aviation industry and highlights the ongoing commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and mentorship among industry professionals.
The ceremony will be opened by Transport Minister Chris Bonnett, with distinguished guests such as CEO Transport Malta Kurt Farrugia, COO Karen Zerafa, Director General Captain Charles Pace and heads from all corporate partners.
The awards night is shaping up to be an evening of celebration, thanks to support from leading industry players.

The finalists
Their main partner, Transport Malta, alongside sponsors including EasyJet Engineering Malta, Emirates, Titan Airways Malta, Malta Air Traffic Control, EG Aviation, and Opes Jet, will be recognising and presenting awards for outstanding contributions across various categories.
Additional supporters such as Hyperion Aviation, Aeroates, Airhub Airlines, Lufthansa Technik Malta, Acumum, and Staff Now have also come on board to support this empowering event.
Earlier this year, Women in Aviation hosted its finalist party at the Marriott Hotel on August 28th, where finalists spent the day meeting the panel of distinguished judges: Stephen Vella, CEO of MCAST; Kathryn Halstead, Managing Director of Aviation Magazine; and Leanne Georgiades, MD of LG Lead and LG Law. The evening event, where sponsors and corporate partners joined them, offered a “vibrant platform” for networking, recognition, and celebrating the next generation of aviation leaders.
This year also marks a special milestone as Women in Aviation celebrates its one-year anniversary.
Over the past year, the organisation has made strides in promoting mentorship programs, outreach initiatives with schools and colleges, and building a diverse and inclusive network within Malta’s aviation community. These efforts aim to attract both local youth and international talent to Malta’s burgeoning aviation industry, reinforcing the island’s reputation as a hub for innovation and diversity.
“We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in our first year,” said Ruth Sawers, Founder and MD of Women in Aviation Malta Ltd.
“Our mission to create opportunities, promote diversity, and inspire the next generation of aviation professionals continues to grow, and we look forward to celebrating our achievements and the talented women shaping Malta’s aviation future at this year’s awards.”
Untapped talent is not merely a morale issue, but a strategic risk.
Charles Mangion says the next step in Malta’s tourism strategy should involve managing growth more responsibly.
