In a significant step towards expanding its global footprint, Kore Group has welcomed Matthew Vassallo as the Head of International Business Development.

Since stepping into this pivotal role a year ago, Mr Vassallo has been at the forefront of steering the organisation’s international business strategies, with the aim of establishing Kore Group as a leader in the healthcare sector not only in Malta but on the international stage.

Founded in 2006 through a pioneering joint venture between the db Group and JCL Holdings Limited, Kore Group has carved its niche in Malta’s healthcare industry.

With a workforce of over 4,000 dedicated employees, the company has established itself as the island’s main provider of healthcare catering in hospitals and nursing homes, producing and supplying more than 9,000 meals daily.

Beyond its catering expertise, Kore Group also supplies carers and nursing staff through its company Healthmark, and also provides meals and snacks to the aviation industry through Kore Air.

At the helm of international business development, Mr Vassallo brings a wealth of experience and genuine passion for transcending local market boundaries. His strategy hinges on fostering strategic partnerships, exploring suitable entry modes, and devising measures to mitigate risks associated with international expansion.

Mr Vassallo’s aim is to leverage Kore Group’s established competencies and capabilities, honed over years of service in Malta, to make a lasting impact on the global healthcare landscape. Under his guidance, Kore Group aspires to be recognised as a distinguished international player, offering sustainable and high-quality healthcare services that significantly enhance well-being and pave the way for a healthier tomorrow.

Mr Vassallo is not new to business strategy, international development, and marketing, boasting 16 years of cross-industry experience in construction, entertainment, and integrated security solutions.

Academically, he holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Internationalisation, and a Higher Diploma in Sales and Marketing from the University of Malta, complemented by a Facebook Blueprint Certification.

Mr Vassallo’s career is marked by his involvement in international projects across South Africa, Libya, and the UK, and his instrumental role in franchise and licensing models aimed at attracting international brands to Malta. This diverse experience has endowed him with a deep understanding of the complexities of international business, positioning him as a key asset to Kore Group’s ambitious expansion plans.

As he continues to lead Kore Group’s journey across international waters, his strategic acumen and innovative outlook promise to unlock new horizons for the company, reinforcing its mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services globally.
