Sonny Portelli

Sonny Portelli, former Chairperson of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD), has passed away. 

Beyond his contributions to the MCESD, Mr Portelli held esteemed roles in both the public and private sectors, notably as former Chairman of Air Malta and Chairman of HSBC Malta.

In an announcement on social media, MCESD expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Mr Portelli, who served as Chairperson of the council between 2007 and 2013.

A respected leader and prominent figure in Maltese public and corporate life, Mr Portelli is remembered for his dedication to encouraging social dialogue and unity across diverse sectors.

The MCESD extended its heartfelt condolences to Mr Portelli’s family and loved ones.

Sonny Portelli’s vision and contributions will be long remembered as part of Malta’s journey toward inclusive socio-economic development.
