Russell Camilleri on Tuesday announced that he has been promoted to Director at Grant Thornton Malta.
His new role comes after six-and-a-half years at the professional services firm, where he initially joined as Assistant Manager. Since that point, he has enjoyed a series of promotions, and most recently served as Associate Director from 2021 up until his latest promotion.

At Grant Thornton, he leads its team of accounting professionals within the tax department, providing various accounting, VAT, and corporate taxation services to a portfolio of local and international clients. Over the course of his career at the company, he has worked on a diverse range of industries, ranging from aviation and yachting to iGaming entities.
Prior to that, he worked as an Accountant at The Warehouse Group and Accounts Associate at 3a Malta. His experience also includes over a year as Junior Accountant at Portman International.
Mr Camilleri is a qualified accountant after he completed the ACCA qualification in 2015. He also successfully completed an Advanced Diploma in International Taxation from the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 2021, opting for EU VAT as his area of specialisation. Additionally, he is a Member at the Malta Institute of Accountants and its Indirect Taxation Committee.
The firm in Malta was founded in 1975, and became a Grant Thornton member in 1991. It focuses on providing a range of services including assurance, tax, advisory, specialist financial services, corporate, secretarial, and also administrative services to clients in both the private and public sector across various industries.
