Bank of Valletta (BOV) announced the appointment of Simon Azzopardi as Chief Personal and Wealth Officer, adding that regulatory approval has already been obtained.
In his role, Mr Azzopardi is primarily responsible for the Branch Network, Investment Centres, Private Banking, Wealth Management and Digital Channels.
Mr Azzopardi first joined Bank of Valletta in 1987.
He has served in various areas within BOV, including the retail network, corporate lending, strategic planning, and marketing. During his career at the bank, he has occupied various senior positions in Risk Management, International Corporate Centre and in Wealth Management.
In 2021, Mr Azzopardi was appointed as Chief Wealth Management Officer and became a member of the bank’s Executive Committee. He is currently a Director on the Board of BOV Fund Services Limited, a subsidiary of Bank of Valletta.
Mr Azzopardi holds a degree Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Banking & Finance from the University of Malta, and an MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking from the University of Reading. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
