Richard Bilocca

As Government, stakeholders and private entities push to better Malta’s environmental credentials, both at national and European level, WastServ’s CEO, Richard Bilocca has taken to publicly thanking his team for their dedication to the cause.

Mr Bilocca shared “The least I can do is to express my appreciation” for the team, who work hard to improve Malta’s sustainability standards.

“Throughout my career, I was never as proud as I am today of this team of selfless workers who are giving their all to implement a very ambitious environmental vision.”

WasteServ is the national entity responsible for managing and processing collected solid, organic and recyclable waste, with the aim of also creating resources from waste material.

In recent years, the organisation has been working to drive Malta towards a circular economy approach – a model of production and consumption which includes sharing, reusing and recycling existing materials and products to extend their lifecycle as much as possible, reducing the production of waste.

In line with this is the long-term Waste Management Plan 2021-2030 launched by Government last year, which lays down key priority areas to ensure a robust and effective waste governance framework for the islands.
