MCAST

An agreement signed between the Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) and national theatre company Teatru Malta is set to benefit both organisations as well as the students of the college.

Through said agreement, MCAST will be providing Teatru Malta with rehearsal space and workshops for set-building. Teatru Malta, on the other hand, will be moving its offices to MCAST. This way, students pursuing their studies in the theatrical arts will have the opportunity to work on theatre sets, hence getting direct, hands—on experience.

The agreement was signed by MCAST Principle and CEO James Joachim Calleja, and Arts Council Malta (ACM) Executive Chair Albert Marshall in the presence of the Education Minister Clifton Grima and Arts Minister Owen Bonnici.

Speaking of this agreement, Prof Calleja stated that, “creativity and inspiration are at the heart of our community of artists and innovators.”

“As a community college, this agreement will allow MCAST to open its premises to the artistic community and give students opportunities to succeed in their careers. The campus should be a centre of activity and collaboration, a laboratory for inspiration,” he added.

In his comments Mr Marshall stated that, “in a strong spirit of collaboration, this agreement should serve for Teatru Malta to continue to evolve in shaping a seat for the Maltese national theatre company.”
