Liz Barbaro Sant

Liz Barbaro Sant on Thursday announced that her time as Chairperson of TradeMalta has come to an end after what she described as an “incredibly fulfilling tenure”.

Ms Barbaro Sant, who is Company Director at Alberta Group, was first appointed to the position at TradeMalta in 2021, replacing Stephen Sultana. Prior to that she had served as Director at the business development agency for more than three years.

“Serving in this capacity has been a true honour and a tremendous learning experience,” she said.

“I am immensely grateful for the support of my colleagues and the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of TradeMalta during this period,” she added.

Additionally, Ms Barbaro Sant revealed that she has not sought re-election for the Board of Management, and as a result, her time as Vice President of The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry has also ended after two years.

“It has been a privilege to work with such an exceptional team and advocate for the interests of our business community,” she remarked.

She explained that her journey with TradeMalta will continue as Director appointed by The Malta Chamber, and she will also continue to sit on the Council of The Malta Chamber.

“I am grateful for the experiences achieved and the invaluable relationships that these roles have afforded me. As always, I am committed to promoting trade and fostering a thriving business environment in Malta,” Ms Barbaro Sant continued.

She thanked everyone involved at the two organisations for being an “essential part” of her professional journey, and added that she is “eagerly looking forward to what the future holds”.

“Let’s continue to make a difference together,” she concluded.

Aside from the two aforementioned roles, she has also worked as Company Director at Alberta Group for over 30 years, and is also a Council Member at the Libyan-Maltese Chamber of Commerce.

TradeMalta was formed as part of a public-private partnership between the Government of Malta and The Malta Chamber with the aim of helping Malta-based businesses go international.
