Central Business Centres (CBC) plc has announced the appointment of Helga Ellul as an Independent, Non-Executive Director and member of the audit committee, effective from Tuesday (today).

This appointment follows the passing of Alfred Sladden, who previously served as an Independent Non-Executive Director and chairman of the audit committee.

CBC plc, a company in the Maltese real estate and property development sector, focuses on investment, finance, and property ownership, developing properties for rental purposes.

Ms Ellul served as the CEO of Playmobil Malta until September 2012, after which she established Advise Ltd., a consultancy firm. Over the years, she has held numerous directorships and leadership positions across local businesses, governmental organisations, and non-profit entities.

Her extensive experience includes serving as Deputy Chairman of the Employment and Training Corporation (1990-1996) and as President of the Foundation for Human Resource Development (1995-2003).

She was also a member of the Malta Federation of Industry (FOI), serving as its Vice President for eight years, during which she chaired multiple committees and working groups.

Her contributions extended to the Board of Malta Enterprise and the strategic policy unit of the Office of the Prime Minister. Notably, she was the first female President of the newly merged Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry until March 2011.

In addition to her corporate contributions, Ms Ellul has been actively involved in various philanthropic and civic initiatives. She has been a trustee of the Richmond Foundation, a board member of the BOV/Joseph Calleja Foundation, and the President of the CORE Platform under the patronage of the President of Malta.

She has also served as President of the National Council of Women and of the Rotary Club La Valette.

Further to Ms Ellul’s appointment, CBC plc has also announced that Joseph Formosa, an existing Independent Non-Executive Board Member and Audit Committee Member, has been appointed as Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee, also effective from Tuesday.
