Steve Ellul

Financial Consultant Steve Ellul took to social media to talk about the benefits of helping University of Malta students with their dissertation research.

Mr Ellul, who also happens to be a Visiting Lecturer at that same institution, highlighted the sheer quality of work created by three particular students.

“The process that leads the cultivation of an innovative idea to a practical solution based on sound research is as intriguing for me as it is rewarding to the students who commit time, energy, and passion in their work,” Mr Ellul wrote.

The first of three “innovative, creative, and passionate” former students, Ylenia Bugeja, delivered a volatility driven statistical model aimed at optimising allocations in different market conditions.

Samelle Vassallo, who currently occupies the role of Financial Stability Officer at the Central Bank of Malta, focused on the smart beta investments and their applicability to the Maltese investment context.

Lastly, Mariona Attard – presently an Advisory Associate at PwC Malta – “brought sustainable finance to the faculty with her findings on why Malta-based companies and asset managers need to do to up their game on ESG investing.”

Whilst praising the three former students for their efforts, Mr Ellul also recommended their dissertations to “investment professionals, particularly those based in Malta.”
