JP Fabri has been appointed Country Director for Malta at the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), an organisation dedicated to strengthening trade, investment, and economic cooperation across the Commonwealth’s 56 member countries.
Economist Mr Fabri brings a wide-ranging portfolio that spans entrepreneurship, policy innovation, institutional transformation, and governance. His career has combined private-sector leadership, advisory work, and public service, with experience in both local and international contexts.
He has held founding roles at tapseed, myUbuntu and ParametricMatters, co-founded the advisory firm Seed, and occupied senior positions at Henley & Partners – The Firm of Global Citizens®, Insignia Group of Companies, the Central Bank of Malta, the Office of the Prime Minister, and The Commonwealth. He also serves as a visiting assistant lecturer at the University of Malta.
Mr Fabri’s international exposure includes serving as a policy advisor to nine governments on matters related to economic resilience and good governance. He also brings governance experience through non-executive board roles across the insurance, fintech, and media sectors.
Part of his current work is centred around myUbuntu, an initiative focused on supporting Africa’s smallholder farmers, who are considered the backbone of the continent’s food systems but remain highly vulnerable to climate change, financial instability, and market inefficiencies. Through parametric insurance solutions and a dedicated farmer platform, myUbuntu seeks to provide farmers with financial security, practical tools, and access to more efficient markets.
Through this role, Mr Fabri is expected to support greater engagement between Malta and other Commonwealth economies, facilitating dialogue and opportunities around trade, investment, and institutional collaboration.
